About julia
Licensed Equine Massage Therapist
I’m just your average small town girl, I grew up in the itty bitty town of Eatonville, Washington at the base of Mt. Rainier - also known as the “Gateway to Paradise”. I first found my passion for our Equine friends as a photographer, gratefully admiring the beauty in their movement and way of life from behind the lens. I very quickly came to realize that I didn't just want to watch from afar. I began to work at a privately owned barn as the caretaker for eleven horses; while there I learned so much about horsemanship and further confirmed that this is what I want to do with my life.
When beginning to consider my options as a professional in the equine industry, I first found passion in lameness related behavioral issues and finding connection and restoring trust with horses that were otherwise labeled as "naughty" or were in a constant state of fight or flight. The study of biomechanics and the study of the Equine nervous system were also incredibly interesting to me. I gained valuable experience and knowledge going to Langley Equine Studies to become licensed for equine massage and learn about the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, kinesiology, various modalities to bring the body into balance and soundness, and so much more. For continuance of my education I became a part of Celete Lazaris' Balance Through Movement Method Master Class, and went through the Lazaris Technique Nerve Release Course.
I will never not be absolutely in awe of horses. My mission is to give a voice to each horse I have the privilege of working with and strive to help them reach their full potential with every session.
Outside of the barn you'll find me spending time in the sun (as Washington weather allows), going hiking, reading a book, taking pictures, or spending time with my dogs.
